It is possible in Lightroom to run concurrent exports (up to 3 in total) to achieve faster overall upload speeds. So when uploading a gallery of images, try exporting only a third of the images each time.
For example, in a gallery of 75 images, the first export will be for images 1-25. Once the export has started, don't wait for it to finish and just start a new export for images 26-50. Then repeat the process again for images 51-75.
This has the affect of stacking up the export processes in Lightroom and should utilises most of your internet bandwidth to achieve a faster upload time overall.
