Transferring your website domain using "Crazy Domains"

Here's a quick lesson to help you point your Crazy Domains hosted domain to your new Fotomerchant site. These instructions can also be applied to the AustDomains domain provider.

Note that in step 13 below, you'll need to enter your domain Verification Code. You can find your this by navigating to the Website / Domain Name page of your Fotomerchant admin account and making your way through the Custom Website Address process there!..

It will look something like this: dvrrtabcjdxnu

Here we go..

1. Log into your Crazy Domains account and click Domains
2. Select the domain that you want to manage

3. Scroll down the next page and hit the Records link under the DNS Service table.

Note that if you don't seem to have access to this DNS Service function and therefore can't manipulate your DNS Records, you may need to contact Crazy Domains and have them activate this funciton within your account for you. They charge a small annual fee to give you access to this feature and can easily sort this out for you through either of these contact addresses - help@crazydomains.com.au or accounts@crazydomains.com.au

4. Make sure you have the Record Type set to A Record
5. Leave this field blank
6. Set the IP Address to: 54.215.0.71
7. Hit Create

Now repeat steps 4 to 7 to create a second A Record pointing to the IP Address: 54.215.0.74

8. Make sure you have the Record Type set to A Record
9. Enter the asterisk character in this field: *
10. Set the IP Address to: 54.215.0.71
11. Hit Create

Now repeat steps 8 to 11 to create a fourth A Record pointing to the IP Address: 54.215.0.74

Now, the Verification CNAME Record. Here we go...

12. Set the Record Type to CNAME Record
13. Paste in the Verification code you copied from the Domain Transfer process.
This will be the code that looks roughly like this - dvrrrrabcrjunr

14. Now, enter this text in the Alias field - domainverify.fotomerchant.com
(If you're copy/pasting this, make sure you don't copy across any invisible "space" characters.. and no Kain, I'm not talking about Yoda!)

15. Hit Create

..and finally the www subdomain CNAME record.

16. Again, set the Record Type to CNAME Record
17. Enter www in the Name field.
18. Now, enter this text in the Alias field - customerdomain.fotomerchant.com

Note: This exact text should be entered.. no substitution needed!
(Again, if you're copy/pasting this, make sure there are no "space" characters either side of the text. Terrible joke.. sorry!)

19. Hit Create ..and you're done!

Note that the message at the bottom of these Crazy Domains pages tells us that these DNS changes can take up to 2 hours to resolve. In some cases it can actually take up to 24 hours, though it's usually not that long. If you have waited 24 hours without seeing a change then it might be worth having Crazy Domains confirm whether they have in fact published your changes - help@crazydomains.com.au
accounts@crazydomains.com.au

If you still have trouble then hit us up via the Help Desk and we can investigate for you too!
